Terms, privacy and copyright

In short: StrataTuner is a media player. It contains and provides no channels, films, series or playlists. You bring your own content from a provider you are entitled to use, and you are responsible for that content being legal where you live. We cannot see your playlists and cannot help with them. Activations cover the app only and are not refundable.

1. Terms of Use

1.1 The service

“StrataTuner”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the StrataTuner application for Android, Android TV and Fire TV, this website (stratatuner.com), and the reseller portal (panel.stratatuner.com). StrataTuner is a software media player. It plays audio-visual streams and files that you choose to add, using playlist formats (Xtream Codes, M3U) supplied by third parties that are unrelated to us.

1.2 No content is provided

StrataTuner does not include, host, transmit, sell, resell, recommend, link to or provide access to any channels, films, series, playlists or subscriptions. No content of any kind is included with an activation. We have no relationship with content providers and no control over, or knowledge of, the content you play. Any provider you use is your own choice and responsibility.

1.3 Acceptable use

You may use StrataTuner only for lawful purposes, including playing your own personal media, content from licensed providers and services you subscribe to, streams you are authorised to access, legally available public and free-to-air streams, and software testing. You must not use StrataTuner to access, stream, record or distribute copyrighted content without the authorisation of the rights holder, or in any way that breaks the laws of your country. You alone are responsible for ensuring that your use is legal.

1.4 Activations

Use of the app beyond a trial requires an activation for the device, obtained from a reseller. An annual activation lasts 12 months; a lifetime activation does not expire, for as long as the service exists. Activations are for the app only, are tied to a device identifier, and are non-refundable. Please do not activate the app unless you already have a playlist you are entitled to use and have tested it during the trial. Prices, payment and support are provided by your reseller; we are not a party to that transaction.

1.5 Trials

Resellers may grant one free trial of 1 to 7 days per device for testing purposes. A trial includes no content.

1.6 Suspension and termination

We or a reseller may suspend or revoke an activation that is used in breach of these terms, is obtained fraudulently, or where a payment is reversed. We may discontinue the service with reasonable notice.

1.7 No warranty; limitation of liability

StrataTuner is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that it will work with every device, playlist, provider or stream format, or be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app, the content you play with it, or the acts of third parties including providers and resellers. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

1.8 Changes

We may update these terms and the app. Continued use after a change means you accept it. The current version is always at stratatuner.com/legal.html.

1.9 Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.

2. Content disclaimer

StrataTuner is a general-purpose player, comparable to VLC, Kodi or any other media player. We do not monitor, approve, endorse or take responsibility for any content played with it, nor for the providers that supply it. Error messages shown in the app that originate from a provider’s server (for example HTTP 403, 451 or 884) are relayed as-is; they indicate a problem with the provider or line, not with StrataTuner. Trademarks and names of devices and platforms belong to their respective owners and do not imply any affiliation.

3. Privacy Policy

3.1 What the app collects

A random installation identifier and a server-assigned Device ID (MAC-style, not your real hardware address), the device platform (Android TV / Fire TV / phone) and app version, and a device label if one is set.
Activation status: the app checks about once a minute while running whether its activation is valid. The server records the time of the last check.
Playlists loaded by your reseller: the server, username and password or M3U link your reseller entered for your device are stored encrypted on our server and sent only to that device. We do not read, test or access them.
Recordings, favourites, history, settings and playlists you add yourself stay on your device. They are not sent to us (an optional backup file is written to your device’s storage, protected by a password you choose).

The app does not collect your viewing history, what channels or titles you play, your real MAC address, location, contacts or advertising identifiers, and contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.

3.2 Portal accounts (resellers and administrators)

We store your email address, display name, optional contact details shown to your customers, your password (hashed), two-factor secrets (encrypted), credit transactions, the devices you activate and notes you keep about customers, and an audit log of actions taken in the portal, including the IP address of sign-ins. Emails (logins, password resets, sign-up notices) are sent through our email provider, Resend.

3.3 Cookies

The portal uses a single session cookie to keep you signed in. This website stores only your acceptance of the legal notice in your browser. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.

3.4 Who sees what

Your reseller can see whether your device is active, when it last checked in, and the playlists they loaded. They cannot see playlists you added yourself or what you watch. Administrators can see all devices and resellers. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties except the service providers needed to run the service (hosting, email), who act on our instructions.

3.5 Retention and your rights

Device records are kept while the device is activated and for a reasonable period afterwards; portal accounts for as long as they are open. You can ask us to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to its processing, by emailing legal@stratatuner.com. Deleting a device record ends its activation. You can complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).

3.6 Security

Connections to our servers use HTTPS. Passwords are stored hashed; playlist logins and two-factor secrets are encrypted at rest; activations are cryptographically signed. Backups are kept for 14 days.

4. Copyright policy

StrataTuner hosts and transmits no content, so there is nothing on our systems to remove. We nevertheless respect intellectual property and will act on credible notices. If you are a rights holder and believe StrataTuner is being used to infringe your rights, email legal@stratatuner.com with: identification of the work, the activation, device ID or reseller account you believe is involved (if known), the stream or playlist source, your contact details, and a statement made in good faith that you are authorised to act for the rights holder. We will investigate and may suspend activations or reseller accounts used in breach of our Terms of Use, and will cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.

5. Reseller terms

Resellers are independent businesses, not our agents or employees. They buy device activations (credits) from us and sell them to their customers on their own terms and prices.
Resellers must only activate devices for customers who are entitled to the content they intend to play, must not sell, bundle, advertise or recommend playlists or subscriptions alongside StrataTuner, and must not describe StrataTuner as including any content.
Resellers must keep their portal login and two-factor codes private, keep customer notes accurate and lawful, and must not store customers’ payment details in the portal.
Credits are not refundable except where required by law. Accounts used in breach of these terms may be suspended and their activations revoked.
